Moving – It’s now official, we are empty nesters!! Bryce bought a house in Boise and moved out right after the Burton’s moved to Tennessee in May. The Burton’s are living with Mitch’s family in Murfreesboro until they can purchase their own home. They’re looking for one now, fingers crossed. The Thornton’s moved from Williston, ND to Dickinson, ND the weekend of Thanksgiving. They are settling nicely and seem to be enjoying the move so far.

Idaho – We’ve been back in Idaho for 10 years now. Wow! The time sure has flown by. We love it here and plan to stay for a REALLY long time. But that doesn’t mean things don’t change. We are now in a new ward, the Champion Park Ward. The Hunter Ward was dissolved and our ward was created from three wards in our Stake. Ron has not yet been able to attend due to his YSA Bishopric calling but Cathy has been several times. She’s even been asked to play the organ a couple of times, that calling has not yet been filled in the new ward.

Singles Ward – Ron continues to serve in the Bishopric of the Young Single Adult (YSA) 7th Ward, Cathy loves attending with him and all the fun activities, Bryce is serving as the Executive Secretary to the Bishop. We love the members of the ward and appreciate their examples, faithfulness and testimonies.

Travels – Cathy attended her Sisters Getaway in April and had a blast with all of her sisters (Deena was the hostess so it was in Granite Bay, CA); Cathy made a surprise visit to her Mom in April for her birthday (all had a wonderful time together); Cathy attended Wood Badge in June at Camp Morrison, McCall (more below); Mitch, Christine, Maddox, Ozzy, Koda and Ron went to AZ to visit and do some work on Ron’s parents’ house in April. Mitch and Ron worked hard on the house for a couple of days before the Burtons left for home. The boys and Koda had a blast playing outside; Ron, Bryce and David made a weekend trip in July to continue work on the house; In August, Cathy attended her nephew’s (Nick Grimmett) wedding reception. It was a nice occasion and she enjoyed being with most of her family; our October trip to Tennessee to see the Burton’s was great. We had the chance to visit the Parthenon, Stones River Battlefield, and the surrounding area. We are looking forward to going back to see more; Ron took a weekend trip to WA in November for Scout Training Conference (it has become an annual trip); we spent Thanksgiving in Cd’A (more below); Cathy is excited to go to Cd’A again at the end of December. Her nephew Tyler Grimmett is getting married.

Love – We love being grandparents!!! It is the BEST! We are excited to announce that David and Heidi are expecting their third baby in July. That will bring us to 8 grandkids. So exciting!! We LOVE visiting all of them.

ESPN College Football – Bryce worked for ESPN again this year during the college football season as an Operations Assistant. He loves it and we enjoy knowing where he is and watching the different games. If you follow him on Facebook you’ve probably seen his weekly game day posts, usually a stadium panorama.

Thanksgiving – Thanksgiving was soooo much fun! We went to Cd’A and stayed with Cathy’s parents. We played games, the girls walked the mall, we ate, the guys went shopping, and we ate some more, played more games!! Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time and everyone made it home safely! Oh, and there was some hunting too! Yes, they got a deer.

Overjoyed – We are overjoyed that Mitch was finally able to secure a great paying job after 5 months of unemployment and we are so grateful that TJ was hired on with an Insurance Company that offered him pretty much what he asked for. Way to go son’s-in-law. We are also thankful that Ron was just hired back on with Xerox. Yay! He gets paid for holidays, sick time, matching 401k benefits and medical (Cathy really appreciates this one).

Eagle – Cathy went to Wood Badge (BSA Leader Training) in June and her critter is an eagle. She was a little scared at first but by the end of the second day she was great. Cathy learned a lot and is sharing it with the leaders she works with in her Stake (Cathy’s calling is the Stake Primary Cub Scout Specialist). Now she’s off to work her ticket. (Ask her what that means.)
We send to you our love and hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a very blessed and prosperous New Year!!!!
