Yes, it has been several years since our last Christmas letter. So to bring you up to date, we will just cover the highlights.
2014 HighlightsBryce began working in January for Beehive Homes in the corporate office as a customer service rep along with some other odd jobs
Austin “Ozzy” Cruz Burton was born on January 7, 9 lb 7 oz, 21 ½ in, Mitch made it just in time to deliver him at home in the bathtub (you can read his story here) Tiffany, TJ, Dru & Tommy moved back to Williston, ND (TJ in January and the rest of the family in April) The big Grimmett Family Reunion was held in Boise the end of June, once again we had a house full, everyone had a wonderful time making great memories, Cathy was the main organizer and was grateful for all who stepped in and helped Ron continues his scouting service, taking on responsibilities as chairman for the Council’s Training team and for the 2017 National Jamboree, he also participated in his first NYLT as an adult advisor Christine & Mitch purchased their first home in Bremerton, WA. They are so excited Christine, Maddox and Ozzy spent two separate stays with us while Mitch was out to sea (June 13-July 31 and October 14-December 1) . Mitch was able to join us for Thanksgiving On September 5th, Ron was informed that his position at Xerox would end on the 19th (he had been with them for 18 years) Ron was released from the YSA 7th Ward Bishopric as the 2nd Counselor on September 7th and called back in as the 1st Counselor (Cathy was ecstatic) David & Heidi announce baby #2 at Scentsy’s Halloween Party, due date: May 14, 2015 2013 Highlights
Mitch graduated from his training on March 15th and began their long drive cross country to move in with us just two days (Mar 18th) after the Thornton’s moved out of our basement and into an apartment on March 16th not far away
Christine and Mitch had a mini vacation in Hawaii before Mitch’s deployment on the U.S.S. Nimitz (he left in May), Christine learns she is pregnant, due January 23, 2014 Ron, Cathy, Tiffany, TJ, Dru, Tommy, Bryce, David, Heidi & Emigin enjoyed attending Sydney Warren & Alex Young’s wedding in Utah the first weekend in May After much deliberation (and encouragement from several family members), Cathy resigned from Scentsy on June 28th to become a stay at home grandma Ron spent 2 ½ weeks in June at his parent’s home in Arizona helping with the construction of their home In July, Ron attended his fourth BSA National Jamboree, serving as a Scoutmaster for one of the two troops that went from the Ore-Ida Council, the first at the Summit in West Virginia In September, Ron went back to his parents and Cathy began watching Emigin while Heidi works and David works and goes to college Cathy and Ron (with Cathy’s sister Shelley) helped her parents, Clive & Shirley Grimmett, return home from serving in the New Mexico Farmington Mission. They had a lot of things to pack and bring home. Ron had the back and most of the cab of his truck full of their belongings Had a great Thanksgiving at the Grimmett’s in Coeur d’Alene, which included the filming of “Thanksgiving Fear 2013” (available to view on You Tube) Bryce graduated in December from BSU with High Honors and a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Media Production, Clive & Shirley came to help celebrate 2012 HighlightsIn January, David and Heidi announced they were expecting their first baby, Emigin Rae Cornwell, born August 13, 2012, 7 lb 13 oz, 21 in. and blessed on October 14, 2012 by her father David
Tiffany, TJ and Dru moved back to Meridian the beginning of May (living in our basement, Yay!) so TJ could go back to work for his old boss at Allstate Insurance Thomas Ronald Thornton was born June 11, 2012, 8 lb 3 oz, 20 ½ in. and blessed on July 15, 2012, by his father TJ and was nicknamed “Chunk” by his Uncle Bryce Christine, Mitch, Maddox & Koko moved to Ballston Spa, NY (Saratoga Springs area) the end of July for Mitch to complete his Nuclear Engineering training with the Navy Bryce gave notice at Scentsy the end of July so he could focus more on his schooling (had worked in Manufacturing for 4 years) Big Grimmett Family Reunion, August 10-11. Our house was filled to the brim with families and had 3 tents set up in our backyard. We enjoyed playing games, eating, hanging out, eating, making and decorating cardboard cars for our “drive-in movie”, eating and just spending time together. Everyone, we think, had a great time Ron was called to the Bishopric in the Young Single Adult 7th Ward, as 2nd Counselor, in September. Cathy was also released as a Primary teacher and Choir pianist so that she can serve with him. (She is still a visiting teacher and plays the organ for Sacrament meeting once a month.) Cathy moved to the Shipping Department, in October, at Scentsy as an ID Special Projects Specialist (just a fancy way of saying she imprints the writing pens), her position as an Executive Assistant was eliminated Ron & Cathy traveled to Ballston Spa for an awesome visit with Christine, Mitch, Maddox and Koko – sites visited: Niagara Falls, the Palmyra Temple, the Joseph Smith farm, the Sacred Grove, and the Hill Cumorah. A few days after Ron and Cathy returned home, Koko was hit by a car and passed due to her injuries, it was devastating, she is missed by all Ron coordinated the many assignments given to the YSA 7th Ward for the Boise Temple Open House prior to its re-dedication on November 17th |
